QUAINT FURNITURE ARTS AND CRAFTS STICKLEY BROS. CO. GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. incl.
Genuine Russia and Spanish Morocco Leather and Russion Hand Beaten Copperby
Turn of the Century Editions, NY, 1981.
Grand Rapids, Michigan was a furniture manufacturing center long before
George and Albert Stickley moved there in 1891. The work of these two younger
brothers of Gustav Stickley clearly shows his influence. In this catalogue,
issued circa 1908, some original and noteworthy designs began to appear. It is
not widely known, for instance, that Stikley Brothers made lighting fixtures
and beaten copper objects for use and ornamentation, and they are pictured
here. The firm adopted the trademark "Quaint Furniture" in conjunction with
Stickley Brothers Co. of Grand Rapids" during this early period. To meet the
growing interest in the American Arts and Crafts Movement, we are republishing
this catalogue in its entirety for use of curators, scholars and collectors."
